The University of Dar es Salaam through the School of Education and the Department of Educational Psychology and Curriculum Studies invites applications for admission into a MASTER OF EDUCATION IN LANGUAGE EDUCATION (MEDLED) DEGREE PROGRAMME for the 2018/2019 academic year.
The Programme MED LED is a new programme which aims to prepare specialists in language education who will demonstrate knowledge, skills, values and abilities in preparing language teacher trainers and conduct research projects that address problems associated with language in education in Africa, and Tanzania in particular. The programme intends to benefit education stakeholders dealing with language of instruction, language teaching and learning, especially:
1. Members of academic staff in public and/or private institutions;
2. Researchers in various educational institutions interested in language education;
3. Educational officials working with issues related to policy decisions in language education;
4. Foreign and/or local students interested in language education in Africa, in particular;
5. and, Language policy makers and curriculum designers.
Programme Duration
The duration of the programme is eighteen months (18).
Programme Structure
The program is composed of coursework and field research and dissertation writing. After a successful completion of coursework (which includes sitting for university examinations); candidates will be required to prepare a research proposal followed by field research.
Admission Requirements
Applicants shall hold the following qualifications:
1. A first degree in education with a teaching and/or work experience of not less than two years in the areas of educational management, administration, planning or policy.
2. A GPA of 2.7 and above.

Mode of Delivery
