WATCH German-made Leopard tank joins NATO trophy display in Moscow
Dozens of captured Western war machines will be showcased at the Russian capital’s Victory Park

Moscow is finalizing preparations for the upcoming Victory Day celebrations with multiple pieces of military equipment, donated to Ukraine by the US and its NATO allies and captured by Russian forces on the battlefield, being towed for a grand display set to officially open next week.

A German-made Leopard 2 tank has found its resting place at the Victory Park, home to museums of the victories in 1812 and 1945, according to videos circulating on social media on Saturday. The armor was captured relatively undamaged near Avdeevka last month, but the Russian troops had to blow off its tracks with explosives to tow it away from the battlefield. It was then patched up and brought to Moscow for the display.

Another piece brought to the Victory Park on Saturday was a Soviet-designed T-72 main battle tank. Ukraine lost hundreds of these tanks during the ongoing conflict with Russia, and its Western sponsors have “lost track” of how many more they donated to replace Kiev’s battlefield losses.

Over the past week, the disabled Western armored fist in Moscow was reinforced by a US-made M113 armored personnel carrier and a Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV), as well as a German-made Marder 1A3 IFV. Other trophies include YPR-765, a Dutch modification of M113, and a Turkish Kirpi MRAP.

An ingenious Ukrainian-made ‘Azovets’ armored vehicle also made its way to the complex. Engineers sympathetic to the neo-Nazi Azov regiment created it in 2015 by converting a Soviet-era T-64 tank, but it mysteriously vanished from the factory and was never seen on the battlefield. The Russian forces eventually found it buried at the battalion’s base near Mariupol.

Overall, some 30 armored pieces from 12 countries will be on display when the exhibit officially opens on May 1, including weaponry produced or supplied by the US, the UK, Germany, France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Austria and Australia.

The trophies will be on display for the entire next month, as the country marks the Victory Day on May 9, the annual celebration of the triumph over Nazi Germany. After that, some of the showpieceы will presumably end up at the Kubinka tank museum located at Patriot Park outside Moscow.

Situation on the front lines ‘difficult’ – Ukraine’s top military commander
Things are getting worse for Kiev, General Aleksandr Syrsky told the nation’s Western backers amid the continued Russian offensive

Ukraine is having a hard time fighting Russian, the commander-in-chief of the nation’s armed forces, General Aleksandr Syrsky, has admitted this week. The situation on the front lines is “difficult,” he told Kiev’s Western backers during a virtual Ramstein group meeting on Friday.

His words came amid the continued Russian offensive in Donbass, which saw the Ukrainian military lose more than 8,000 soldiers in just one week, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

“I … informed the coalition members about the difficult operational and strategic situation, which has a tendency to get worse,” Syrsky said in a Telegram post on Saturday, where he spoke about the talks with the Western nations providing military aid to Ukraine. Kiev “urgently needs” missiles, ammunition, weapons and military equipment, the general said.

His words came as the US approved another military aid package to Ukraine worth some $61 billion. The emergency spending legislation had been stuck in Congress for months as it was blocked by Republican lawmakers seeking concessions from the White House on US border control policies.

President Vladimir Zelensky, who told NBC that his nation had a “chance at victory,” with more Western weapons coming its way. Ukraine’s foreign minister, Dmitry Kuleba, was more skeptical on the issue, saying that “no single package can stop the Russians.”

NATO responsible for Ukraine crisis – China
Beijing has flatly rejected the US-led military bloc’s claim that it is “fueling” the conflict

NATO is directly responsible for the Ukraine conflict, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a press briefing on Friday, reacting to criticism raised by the US-led military bloc.

On Thursday, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg accused Beijing of supposedly supporting Russian weapons manufacturing through the export of dual-use components to the country.

“China says it wants good relations with the West. At the same time, Beijing continues to fuel the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War Two. They cannot have it both ways,” the official warned.

Wang rejected the claim, saying it is based on rumors. China did not start the Ukraine crisis, he insisted, and NATO’s responsibility for it is “unshiftable.” The US-led military bloc “should reflect on its role, stop shifting the blame, and do something practical to promote a political settlement,” he added.

US ‘shooting itself in the foot’ by arming Taiwan – BeijingREAD MORE US ‘shooting itself in the foot’ by arming Taiwan – Beijing
According to Beijing, NATO’s expansion in Europe and refusal to take Russian national security concerns into consideration triggered the hostilities. A roadmap to peace that China proposed in early 2023 called for that core problem to be addressed, he noted.

Kiev rejected a potential peace treaty with Moscow which the parties had negotiated in the early weeks of the conflict, and opted to continue armed hostilities. The US and its allies have vowed to stand with Ukraine “for as long as it takes” to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia.

In his rebuke of Beijing, Stoltenberg claimed that in 2023, “Russia imported 90% of its microelectronics from China, used to produce missiles, tanks and aircraft.” Wang said Chinese trade was above board, and claimed that “more than 60% of weapons parts and dual-use items imported by Russia come from the US and the West.”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is currently visiting China. He reportedly intends to use the threat of financial restrictions, which Washington is poised to impose on Chinese banks involved in trade with Russia, as leverage. During his meeting with Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday, the latter warned that US attempts to infringe on “China’s legitimate development rights” were undermining bilateral relations
