Pole sana chief. Hivi vitu ndio maana siku hizi dunia inashirikiana kuepusha. Maana mataifa mengi wanaelewa wanaposikia genocide. Ni kawaida sana kukuta rami za posta zote zimekuwa na rangi nyekundu kama wameweka redcarpet ndani ya siku moja tu.

Nashukuru sana Mkuu, sitasahau masaa manane yalikuwa marefu sana kuanzia saa 9 mpaka saa nne usiku wakati tunaondoka, chini ya majeshi ya serikali na ya UN.

Read the Genocide Convention. (Article 2)
And from your bucket list above, its only Rwanda that evidences genocide.

Article II In the present Convention,

genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such :
(a) Killing members of the group;
(£) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(e) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; (rf) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

The key element in the definition is Intention. Henceforth genocide must be an intentional act of destruction done against any of the group mention within Article 2 of the Convention.

Etymologically, the word Genocide is a typical new phenomenon. It is a result of intellectual invention which came after the Second World War.
The word Genos is Greek and it refers to tribe while Cide is a Latin word for murder.
Raphael Lemkin, a Jewish Polish philosopher coined the word as a result of barbarism Jews and the Gypsies had suffered under the Germany Third Reich.
And, this is the reason which compelled me to criticize some of your assertions regarding the crime of Genocide: The word came after The Herero, Ukranians, Chechens and white Haitians were long gone.

Many people particularly journalists tend to misuse the word Genocide.
And in fact the Crime of Genocide was first tried by the International Court after the Rwandan Massacre of 1994.
Prior to this it was very difficult for some lawyers to prove that people like Pol Pot, Mao Zedong, Lyndon B Johnson and the likes really had an Ultimate Intention to commit genocide.

Bear in mind that not every killing of a group amounts to crime of Genocide.
And genocide cannot be committed against a political group.
So next time you want to appear professional do not misuse the word genocide like that.
I expect you not to buy such arguments, unless you claim otherwise.
I hereby rest my case.

Kwa maana ya neno kutumika baada hayo matukio nakubali.
'Intention' ya wahutu kuua watutsi nashindwa kuitofautisha na intention ya wadominika kuwaua wahaiti. Sijui wanasheria wanapata wapi ugumu.
Lkn athante kwa majibu mazuri, japo yameacha vacuum kama nilivyotoa mfano hapo juu. Jina kutungwa baada ya matukio haimaanishi kuwa hayana sifa. Ila kwa maelezo yako haujasema haiwezekani yakawa ni Genocide ila umesema ilikuwa vigumu kwa lawyers kuthibitisha kuwa yaingie ktk category ya genocide. Hii inaacha vacuum ya kutokuconclude hoja yako.
Ni kweli hii thread source yake ni journalists sio lawyers.
