A large emergency response is underway at Stansted Airport after a Kenya Airways plane from Nairobi to Heathrow was diverted.
Royal Air Force jet fighters reportedly escorted the aircraft which landed safely and was escorted to a remote stand with Essex Police in attendance.
The Boeing 787-8 Kenya Airways flight KQ100 was diverted just before 3.45pm with eight fire crews in attendance at the scene.

London Stansted airport serves over 160 destinations across Europe, Asia and Africa.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence confirmed that the fighter jets Typhoons were “launched as a precaution this afternoon to investigate a civilian aircraft which was approaching the UK”.
“The civilian aircraft remained in contact with air traffic controllers throughout and was escorted to Stansted Airport where it landed safely. This incident is now under the control of the civilian authorities,” they said.
