Position: Supervisor – Dewatering
Contract type & Duration: Unspecified time contract
Department: Open Pit Mining
Reporting to: Senior Supervisor – Dewatering
Number of Positions: Four (4)
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To supervise pit dewatering and standpipe operations in accordance with procedures to ensure that active mining benches and areas are dewatered ahead of planned excavation and within budgets.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To supervise pit dewatering and standpipe operations in accordance with procedures to ensure that active mining benches and areas are dewatered ahead of planned excavation and within budgets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of Secondary education or above.
- The incumbent must have LV driving permit.
- At list 5 years in open pit cast operations with proven competency in dewatering equipment e.g. Excavator and the knowledge of welding HDPE pipes
Health Safety and Environment:
- Make sure that safe working procedures are followed for each routine task.
- Ensure Job Safety Analysis, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment are done.
- Ensure housekeeping is maintained.
- Ensure proper PPEs are used.
- Report incident immediately as per GGM procedures.
- Stop work if the working environment / condition is not safe and escalating to your supervisor.
- Report any unsafe act or practice done at the working area.
- Hold pre shift meeting to pass on important information to the team/safety shares.
- Resolve personal issues of team members or refer them to the Supervisor.
- Employee Leave Management.
- Manage the performance of subordinates.
- Ensure equipment are used in accordance with training provided.
- Ensure that equipment used by the team is maintained and can always be used.
- Manage equipment availability.
- Decide right equipment to be used in assigned task.
- Coordinate with LME mechanics for scheduled service and break down maintenance.
- Coordinate with Production, Survey, and Drill & blast Supervisors to execute mining shift plan.
- Monitor proper usage of HDEP pipes and storage to avoid damage.
- Ensure proper handling of Power tools and other tools are maintained.
- Ensure that there is no unnecessary engine idling of equipment.
- Promote safe equipment operation to avoid engine abuse.
- Maintain excellent operation and standard.
- Ensure that all required tools are available before shift starting.
- Ensure shift start and end on time.
- Ensure meals are taken on time.
- Manage work force deployment on time.
- Supervise the execution of daily plan.
- Ensure that daily water moved volume are met or exceed.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
