Revealed: Premier League transfer spend table - with surprise club beating Man United, City and Chelsea to top with £231.4m splashed out... and which giants are BOTTOM with just £34.7m spent?
Premier League clubs spent in excess of £2billion across the two transfer windows of the 2024-25 season, with a surprise side revealed as the biggest overall spender.
In recent years, the wealth of the English top flight has grown at a faster rate than leagues across the world, giving Premier League clubs considerable might in the transfer market.
Lavish spending is no longer just the preserve of 'Big 6' clubs, instead the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham are very capable of pulling off several big signings a season.
There is no better example of this point than the top spending club of the 2024-25 campaign: Brighton. The Seagulls have spent £231.4m, according to figures from football finance expert Kieran Maguire, on 25 arrivals across the two windows.
Brighton backed new boss Fabian Hurzeler in the summer and brought in a host of fresh faces including Georginio Rutter, Yankuba Minteh and Matt O'Reilly. Their winter window was comparatively quieter but that didn't stop them signing young Greek striker Stefanos Tzimas for £20m.
Transfer Spending 2024-25 (£)
1. Brighton 231.4m
