Serikali ya Canada imefuata nyayo za Ubelgiji na Uingereza kuiwekea vikwazo serikali ya Rwanda, vikwazo hivyo vimekuja baada ya serikali ya Canada kujiridhisha kwamba Rwanda ndio chanzo cha vurugu DRC.

The Canadian government on Monday imposed sanctions on the government of Rwanda over the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a new directive given by the Canadian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, International Development and Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, they have suspended issuance of permits for export of controlled goods and technology to the East African country.
Canada has also suspended government-to-government deals and support for private sector business.
The new directives have also put under review Canada’s participation in international events hosted in Rwanda, as well as Rwanda's proposal to host any such events in the country.
Canada’s Global Affairs office said that it had summoned the Rwandan High Commissioner in Canada to convey its stance against “Rwanda’s clear violation of DRC’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, and to inform Rwanda of the measures.
The Canadian government further announced a $15 million for humanitarian assistance in the Democratic Republic of Congo to respond to the needs of crisis-affected people.
“The humanitarian situation in eastern DRC is critical and Canada remains committed to ensuring the most vulnerable are reached with lifesaving assistance. Canada is announcing.”
