Another foreign spy drone has allegedly been hacked and taken out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, this time during a military exercise in the south-eastern province of Kernan.
The Islamic Republic News Agency made the allegations on Saturday, with General Hamid Sarkheli saying “We have managed to bring down a drone of the enemy. This has happened before in our country.” He explained that this was done with the use of electronic warfare, by zeroing in on the drone. An additional statement came from a war-game spokesman who said that “For the first time, our special modern warfare task forces are conducting specialized operations.”

The Iranians haven’t disclosed who the drone actually belonged to. While Washington says they heard the reports, but claim the aerial vehicle wasn’t one of theirs. There have also been previous cases of US drones supposedly taken down by Iran. In Januray, Iranian media claimed that two US spy drones have been hacked in the last 17 months.

Several such incidents during the past year or so underscore the tension existing in the Gulf region between Iran and the United States, who have been drawn into an increasingly bitter political confrontation over Iran’s disputed nuclear program.

Among the tactics used in the war games, General Sarkheli also mentioned reconnaissance, different types of UAVs and targeting systems, as well as Iran’s own suicide drones capable of engaging the enemy. The country now expects to bring electronic warfare to the forefront of its fight against drone attacks.

Hivi karibuni walizindua helkopta za kivita za kisasa sana(TOUFAN2)zina uwezo mkubwa sana wa kushambulia bila bila wasiwasi na pia ina uwezo mkubwa wa kujihami.
