Final touches are being made on the 1st berth, as you can see from this picture the 1st berth is soon going to be completed.

Yes it is real and it is also the biggest berth in East Africa with length of 400m, it can dock the biggest panamax ships in the world. It can be used for transshipment business where post-panamax ships dock at Lamu port and then smaller ships take the cargo to Mombasa and Dar ports. This is a gigantic baby that is soon going to change the port industry in East Africa.

Thanks for this info...Actually I dint know it's the biggest berth in EA....This was a well thought through project, considering the different stakeholders that have been involved, from Kenha to Kura to NLC to the county government, to KRC....And the CEO is also very passionate about the project..Good things ahead!

Such ships have been docking in RSA because they are the only ones with a port with such capacity, Bagamoyo was supposed to take over this but the usual Bongo flavors couldn't keep it together, now Lamu will be the big boy taking up huge ships alone in this region.

Tunaexpand Dar port .....kuna nafasi bado ya kujenga Berth 2 hadi 3 mpya ..ingawa hazipo kwenye phase hii ...phase ijayo tuki expand zitakuwa na ukubwa wa 400m kila moja ....

ungemjulishia kabisa ajue sieze ya zote kabisa..
 
Good now we need 12 lane super highway and SGR lines to every part of Kenya from the port n a well designed town/city
