America,
Some call it the land of opportunity.
So far it is one of the oldest republic on the planet.
It has been governed by 44 Presidents who were all democratically elected.

Now among these 44 gentlemen,
Whom do you think laid the greatest foundations of the Crazy America we have today?
Please try to explain Why and give us facts and examples.

On my opinion it's Abe.
Abraham Lincoln is one of the most popular American Presidents to this day. He's mostly known for his bold move to Abolish the Slave Trade (one of the America's darkest moments) He freed the slaves, and stopped war.

FDR remains the only president to have served a record 12 years in office, thanks both to being what Goodman called an "ultimate pragmatist who found the ideal way to react to events" and "a genius at selling his policies to the American people under a banner of optimism and patriotism." Yet even that characterization looks like a short sale of Roosevelt's significant achievements. From helping defeat Hitler's totalitarian march to instituting New Deal regulatory regimes and social safety nets that have been the targets of privatization hawks ever since, Roosevelt's presidency is the ultimate repudiation of rampant capitalism. No wonder just hearing FDR's name made Glenn Beck want to slap his grandpa.

The biggest boom America ever got was that during the NEW DEAL and Post World War 2 Era.
Clinton's Administration was okay but on the long run the policies had flaws and are what is costing America now.
A good example is the Increased foreign presence of USA and NATO which costs American Billions of Dollars.
During his Administration China grew too strong economically as a results many Multi national corporations are moving to China and Americans are losing their jobs.
The Corporatists took over America during the Bush and The Clinton era.

But the twelve long years failed to curb the Corruption the New Deal brought.
Remember during the last days of Truman, the GOP used Corruption in their campaign to take the democrats out of office; and truly many new dealers were corrupt to the extent Truman often reshuffled the government.

And it must be borne in mind that,
If it wasn't for World War two The New Deal was doomed to fail.
Almost every successful policy initiated was a response to the war.

Starting with the Agricultural Adjustment Program (AAA)-Most of the US Market for grains was European War Colossus.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)- The Program Promoted Agriculture which only aimed at feeding the Waring Europe.
The National Industrial Recovery program- It revamped the American War Machine. Most of the industrial products were sold to Europe. Until the year 1943 The USA was producing weapons three times than THE AXIS NATIONS (Germany, JAPAN, ITALY and SPAIN)COMBINED.
The National Bank Recovery Program- The abandonment of the Gold standard to produce massive loans to Europe was quite something.

If you observe carefully you will find out that if World War two hadn't happened,
The Great Depression would have chewed America up because most of FDR's policies were initiated in the past but failed.

He accomplished what his predecessors failed.
Slavery was something even Thomas Jefferson was proud of, It divided America.
Even at the time of Washington The Confederate States were like an America within America; no body could touch them, no could tell them anything. They even dared to forge alliances with Great Britain exposing their country to disintegration; only for the purpose of trade. Refer the Alabama Arbitration Incident.

Lincoln during his campaign said "I will bring respect to the Union" NO PRESIDENT EVER THOUGHT OF THIS.
He saved his country from being divided even thou he paid the price with his life.
He knew he was fighting the Special Interests and the Bankers, they even tried to assassinate him in numerous time but he kept on moving. This is unlikely to be done by any US president After him.

MALCOM LUMUMBA I concur with The Boss about Bill Clinton particularly in our time.

The flawed policies you're talking about, enormously happened during Bush the W adm. and it mostly cost America now.
When Bill was done and gone, didn't he leave the country with a surplus?!
