Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) executive director Godfrey Mutabazi issued a directive of switching of all unregistered SIM cards before 19th May MTN has defied the directive and has just switched them off ahead of the deadline.

UCC ordered all telecommunication companies to start registering and re- registering their customers SIM cards before an ultimatum of 19th May tomorrow using their National Identification Cards (IDs).

MTN Uganda has just violated the directive by switching off unregistered SIM cards a day before the deadline leaving its customers wondering its reasons as to why.

MTN seams it has a problem of following directive orders from government authorities in all their branches around the globe as Rwanda has just slapped the same company with $8.5million fine for operating its IT services management under MTN Hub in Uganda”.
