Serikali ya Tanzania hadi sasa imetumia jumla ya Shilingi Trilioni 10.69 kwenye Mradi wa Reli ya Kisasa (SGR) kama sehemu ya miradi mikubwa ya nchi.
Akitoa ombi kwa Bunge kuunga mkono jumla ya Shilingi Bilioni 532.8 kwa Ofisi ya Waziri Mkuu na Mfuko wa Bunge kwa mwaka wa fedha wa 2024/25, Waziri Mkuu Kassim Majaliwa alisema juhudi za serikali ya Rais Samia Suluhu Hassan katika kukuza miundombinu, kuchochea ukuaji wa uchumi na kuimarisha sekta mbalimbali - ikiwa ni pamoja na usafirishaji, uzalishaji wa umeme, ujenzi wa viwanda na utalii - zinaleta matokeo yanayotarajiwa.
"Serikali imeendelea kutenga fedha kwa utekelezaji wa mradi wa SGR unaofunika kilomita 1,219 na hadi sasa jumla ya Shilingi Trilioni 10.69 zimeingizwa kwenye mradi," alieleza wabunge Dodoma.
Kipande cha Dar-Morogoro wa kilomita 300 ni awamu ya kwanza ya mradi wa SGR, ambao unatarajiwa kuendelea hadi Mwanza kando ya Ziwa Victoria na Kigoma kwenye pwani ya kaskazini-mashariki ya Ziwa Tanganyika katika awamu tano.

(SGR) as part of the country's megaprojects.
Requesting Parliament to endorse a total of Sh532.8 billion for the Prime Minister's Office and the Parliament Fund for the 2024/25 financial year, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said efforts by President Samia Suluhu Hassan's government to develop infrastructure, foster economic growth and strengthen various sectors - including transportation, electricity generation, industrial construction and tourism - are having the desired results.
"The government has continued to allocate funds for the implementation of the SGR project that covers 1,219 kilometres and so far a total of Sh10.69 trillion has been injected into the project," he told lawmakers in Dodoma.
The 300km Dar-Morogoro line is the first phase of the SGR project, which is expected to run up to Mwanza on the shores of Lake Victoria and Kigoma on the northeastern shores of Lake Tanganyika in five phases.
There are plans to add connections to Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of the East African Railway Master Plan.
Phase two of the SGR project runs from Morogoro to Makutupora, covering 422 kilometres. The line is being extended to Tabora, 294km away in phase three.
The fourth phase will link Tabora to Isaka, a 130km line, where it will branch to Mwanza and Kigoma.
